1978年、英国バーミンガムで結成された白人・黒人混成のレゲエ・ポップ・バンド。80年にアルバム『サイニング・オフ』でデビュー。当初はメッセージ性を前面に出した硬派なバンドだったが、83年の『レイバー・オブ・ラヴ』からポップ度を増し、88年に「レッド・レッド・ワイン」が全米1位を記録。89年『レイバー・オブ・ラヴ2』、93年『好きにならずにいられない』などヒット作を連発した。2008年にリード・シンガーのアリ・キャンベルと、キーボード・プレーヤーのマイケル・バーチューが脱退。
