ジョン・オコーナー
1947年、アイルランドのダブリン生まれのピアニスト。ダブリン大学でカルロ・ゼッキ、ニキタ・マガロフらに師事、1971年からウィーン音楽アカデミーに留学し、ディーター・ウェーバー、ウィルヘルム・ケンプの元で研鑚を積む。1973年、ベートーヴェン国際コンクール及びベーゼンドルファー・ピアノ・コンクールで第1位を受賞する。古典派・ロマン派初期のピアノ作品において巨匠の地位を確立しており、1986年にリリースされたベートーヴェンのソナタ全集や、母国アイルランドの作曲家ジョン・フィールドの作品の録音はいずれも高い評価を得ている。
