O・V・ライト
フルネームをオーヴァートン・ヴァーティス・ライトといい、1939年10月9日テネシー州レノで生まれる。10代の頃よりゴスペル・グループ、サンセット・トラベラーズに参加。1963年頃ソロとして活動を始め、ゴールドワックスに名曲「ザッツ・ハウ・ストロング・マイ・ラヴ・イズ」を吹き込む。後のバックビート時代、ハイ時代を通してサザン・ソウルの名盤となる数々のアルバムを発表。ゴスペルの唱法を用いたディープな歌声はいつまでもソウル・ファンを魅了しつづけている。1980年11月16日心臓病により死去。
